EFT / Burst Testing Services

MSASPL provides EFT testing in Pune for electronic and electrical products exposed to fast switching disturbances. EFT, also known as electrical fast transient or burst testing, is important for products used near relays, contactors, motors, solenoids and inductive loads.

EFT disturbances can cause product restart, output instability, communication errors, relay malfunction, display disturbance or software freeze. Early EFT testing helps engineering teams identify design weaknesses.

What is EFT Testing?

EFT testing applies repeated fast transient pulses to power and signal lines to evaluate whether the product continues to operate correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

EFT/burst testing evaluates product immunity to repeated fast electrical transients that can occur when inductive loads, relays, contactors or other switching devices operate on nearby power or signal lines.
IEC 61000-4-4 is the commonly referenced basic immunity standard for electrical fast transient/burst testing. Test voltage, repetition frequency, coupling method and duration are selected from the applicable requirement.
Depending on the product and standard, EFT may be coupled to AC/DC power ports and selected signal or control cables using the appropriate coupling method.
Products may reset, freeze, lose communication, generate false triggering, show display disturbance or recover automatically after the burst. Monitoring the DUT during the test is therefore important.
Typical review areas include input filtering, grounding, cable routing, power-supply decoupling, relay or I/O protection, PCB layout and separation between noisy and sensitive circuits.
